Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions of Brandon Bay Sauna are outlined below.

If you are making your booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make sure all users are aware of the terms and conditions and also practice safe sauna use. By signing the attached you are confirming you have made all other parties in your group aware of the contents of this waiver, and that you have authority to sign the attached and provide the below confirmations and waivers on their behalf.

Sauna Rules & Regulations

All persons entering and using the sauna do so at their own risk. If you or any of your group have any reservations regarding sauna use, such as medical conditions, underlying health problems, the use of prescription drugs or pregnancy, it is essential that you or any of your group consult your GP before making a booking and using the sauna.

All persons using the open water, sea, as a ‘cold plunge’ do so at their own risk. It is each person's responsibility to ensure that you are a capable swimmer and can handle being exposed to the cold temperatures and currents of the sea. Any person using the water tank as a ‘cold plunge’ does so at their own risk.

Brandon Bay Sauna accepts no responsibility or liability for missing, lost or stolen possessions while using the sauna.

Alcohol, smoking, illegal substances and nudity are not permitted in the Sauna.

Jewellery should always be removed before entering the Sauna to prevent burning. Each sauna user should ensure their swimsuit or swim trucks does not contain any slimming panels or metal parts which may heat up and possibly burn skin.

Brandon Bay Sauna operators reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated persons or for other reasons that may be deemed a health and safety risk. Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.

You must not use the sauna if you:

  • suffer from high or low blood pressure or any heart or circulatory disorder or suffer from epilepsy or diabetes;

  • are pregnant; or

  • are prone to dizziness or fainting

Sauna etiquette must be adhered to at all times to ensure users safety and the best experience for all attending. This includes:

Keeping sauna sessions to a maximum of 20 min at a time. We recommend 5-15 min sessions but suggest you and/or any member of your group leave the Sauna sooner if you start to feel uncomfortable. You and/or any member of your group should leave the Sauna immediately if you start to feel dizzy, nauseous, or lightheaded. Use the timer provided inside the Sauna to keep track of how much time you have spent in each session.

Following operator’s instructions on how to gently pour water onto the hot rocks. Use the ladle provided with only the ‘sauna water’ in the bucket. Only pour the ‘sauna water’ on the hot rocks and nothing else. As a rule of use - This should only be done intermittently to ensure the temperature does not increase too quickly and only when all users are seated.

Entering and exiting the Sauna in a safe and careful manner. Move slowly and give other users space to move. The Sauna is accessed via steps onto a deck.

Never touch the stove or open the stove door. Only trained members of staff are permitted to operate the stove and will be nearby for any queries. There is a guard between the benches and the stove. Please do not hang towels or clothes to dry in the Sauna, as this may cause a risk of fire.

Keeping access points clear to allow other users to exit safely and swiftly if needed.

Always respect other Sauna users. Always check with the other Sauna users before pouring water on the rocks as this will produce hot steam and increase the intensity of the temperature in the Sauna.

To prevent your body from dehydration, drink plenty of cool water—before, during (if needed) and after leaving the Sauna. Please also bring sufficient drinking water with you.

Do not eat just before you use the Sauna or inside the Sauna as you could become nauseated.

Please bring a clean towel to sit on inside the Sauna. This helps to keep the Sauna clean and protect the benches from body oils.

Avoid using creams and lotions prior to using the Sauna. These can clog up your pores and prevent your skin from breathing and sweating efficiently.

After leaving the Sauna, take time to cool down in the cooler air or the open water. Alternate between the hot and cold to get the most out of a sauna experience. All persons using the open water as a ‘cold plunge’ or the water tank as a ‘cold plunge’ do so at their own risk.

It is recommended to rest for at least ten minutes after finishing your sauna session. Find a cool place where you can sit still. This will give your body some time to rebalance and for your heart rate to slow down.

At all times, a trained operator of Brandon Bay Sauna will be nearby for any queries and support you may need managing the heat and the water on the rocks. If anything is wrong, please inform us immediately.
